WEEKEND EVENT PICKS: February 8th-11th
We usually like to keep these events varied, or at least throw in a curveball here and there, but I guess this weekend's theme was unanimous -- dance parties, dance parties, dance parties. Oh well, join in.
THE TRAVELERS CLUB PRESENTS
ART & REC (21+)
As always, our monthly installation is back to kickstart the first full week of February. With some old friends displaying work as well as new faces, plus our first ever live band gracing the night, it'd be a mistake to miss this one. If you've been before, you know what it is. If you haven't, stop depriving yourself of something so beautiful.
FEATURING THE TRAVELERS CLUB, MONDI, LU, COMMON IVY
WITH ART BY ALANA OCANO, ALE DE HOYOS, JUPITER, LYDIA EKEROTH, HANNAH BERNABE, AARON PRETTY + MORE
WHERE: PARK & REC
If there's anything San Diego's nightlife needs more of, it's diversity and more DIY initiatives. That's why creative spaces like the 3192 Gallery are so important. Where else can you pull up to a tucked away hangar on the outskirts of town, tall cans in both hands, and dance to acid, techno and house all night? Thank god for the 3192 boys.

CUFFING SEASON PRESENTS
CUFFING SEASON (21+)
With Hide & Go Freak having just made their LA debut at the Echo last weekend, it only seems right that an LA outfit makes their debut down here to follow up -- and with who else other than our good friends at Hickies & Dry Humps. Make your way to Bang Bang this Friday and get into that sensual R&B boot-knockin' freaky shit vibe that I know y'all motherfuckers love. It's almost Valentine's Day too, I'd be personally upset if you didn't.

HICKIES & DRY HUMPS PRESENTS
BUTTS TA NUTS (21+)
Andddddd then when you wake up after your night of R&B-laden consensual debauchery, please mosey your way to Hickie & Dry Humps' other event this weekend, the classic Butts Ta Nuts at El Dorado. Featuring a special guest set by our good friend, Tealideal, it's guaranteed to be a perfect way to cap your Saturday night.
FEATURING DICKHEAD MCGEE, JULZ, TEALIDEAL
WHERE: EL DORADO
GYM STANDARD PRESENTS
Before thinking about your night plans, however, make sure to head on over to Gym Standard for their Danse clothing pop up, featuring music by Flower Animals, Japanese Emoticon, and my personal favorite San Diego act, Digi Gurl. I can't imagine a more refreshing Saturday noon than copping beautiful clothes all while hearing Digi Gurl play a DJ set filled with darkwave, dream pop and '94 Memphis rap shit.

HELMUTH PROJECTS PRESENTS
SOFT LIONS, THE FRESH BRUNETTE, BEARCATS
If El Dorado isn't up your alley Saturday night but you still want to dance away, then Helmuth Project's pop up show is your best bet. Featuring the self-described "post-riot grrl noise" band Soft Lions, along with support by The Fresh Brunettes and Bearcats, this is a definite go-to for anyone who has ever cared about anything fun, ever. Especially if that fun includes fog machines and art.

GOSSIP GRILL PRESENTS
A SUNDAY DAY PARTY (21+)
Ahhh, the Sunday recovery. I've always been under the belief that Sundays are truly the most rewarding days of the week, and curating it properly is almost as soul-replenishing as making art itself. Keep that in mind when you wake up Sunday morning, as this day party featuring Soulection's Sasha Marie, Vii and Angie Vee will be the perfect addition to your Sunday masterpiece.
