WEEKEND EVENT PICKS: May 10th-13th
That's right, we welcome you all back to another edition of "The Travelers Club tells you what to do with your weekend (with politeness and occasional insight)." I am your host, Andy Internets, and this week we have: avant garde straight from Atlanta, a beat pioneer super show organized by yours truly + Hide N Go Freak and a special intimate TDE affair, plus many more. Tune in.
TOWER BAR PRESENTS
DOC HAMMER + CONTACT
Thursday night events often call for pretty predictable programming and in San Diego that often means -- you guessed it, throwback R&B & old school hip hop nights (no shots, just truth). Let's make a pledge this Thursday. This Thursday we say NO to predictable programming and instead go to Tower Bar and enjoy some great Tijuana / San Diego punk, featuring a tour kickoff show for DFMK and the good people at Contact. Together we stand united against the norm. Set, hut.

PBDY + CALLIE RYAN
If there's any event series in San Diego that even vaguely resembles the risk-taking avant garde glory of Los Angeles' Low End Theory, it's the Glyph series. Case in point, this Friday at Space Bar, the Glyph crew is coming together once again to bring you a stacked line up, featuring Atlantan experimental producer Matthewdavid, Brainfeeder's PBDY, Dublab artist Callie Ryan and many more. This is a must-attend for anyone into the left-field.

THE TRAVELERS CLUB + HIDE N GO FREAK PRESENTS
As our first non-warehouse show of the year, we couldn't be more excited than to have the enigmatic legend, Whereisalex, grace our stage. If you aren't familiar with Whereisalex (formerly known as Braeden Bailey), I can assure you you've heard his tracks multiple times over, being a DJ's go-to for years now. Organized in partnership with our friends at Hide N Go Freak, everything about this night is guaranteed to be wild.

FIVE SPACE SHOP PRESENTS
NATIONAL COLLAGE DAY
It's the SDCCU Festival of Arts this Saturday, and as any arts festival with the name of a bank preceding it, it's only as cool as pretty cool can get. Imagine a farmers market, just no farmers and only market. Now add cover bands. Now make it big. You got it, but I digress. What does make the Festival of Arts great, however, is the dope smaller shops on the block that go all out for this big day, with this one in particular being Five Space Shop. To commemorate National Collage Day, Five Space will be hosting their own collage art show, featuring work by the great Thomas Macie, Goldie Lamoar and more. Don't get too lost in the sea of turkey legs and cover bands and end up missing out on the real beauty.

BAD DAYS (VIDEO PREMIERE)
The 1207-affiliate punk outfit, Sustivity, is gathering everyone together to premiere the music video for their track, "Bad Days," a single off 2017's Strained Delight. The track itself is an ethereal shoegaze ballad turned-ravenous power track, and with a video directed by our homie Malik Burgers, it's destined for greatness. Cruise through to this hidden gem of a venue this Saturday to catch Sustivity, Instinct and Kan-Kan in all their glory.

THE CHAMPIONSHIP TOUR POP-UP
As you probably already know, the TDE Championship Tour is making it's stop in San Diego this Sunday. What you may not know, however, is that the label is hosting a very special surprise pop-up at Gym Standard from the morning leading up to the show. This includes TDE merch, exclusive material and *finger crossed* an in-store visit by a certain Pulitzer Prize winner. Keep your eyes peeled and don't show up before everything goes.
P.S. I, your illustrious narrator, will be working this event, so come through and say hi (plus your shirt size, cos that's likely what I'll be grabbing for you).
