PREMIERE: Common Ivy chases toxic love on single, "Timeout"
In 2019, we have many resolutions. One is being better at posting on this website, and another is being better at posting more than just electronic music and rap on this website. It definitely helps when you have amazing music from alternative R&B/rock band, Common Ivy, to post about.
With roots deeply embedded in the west sands of California, the San Diego-based band fuses elements of alt rock, synth pop, electronic, and early millennium sounds without being out of reach to current nuances and trends. The mix of pop music with dark emotion cuts across as poetic justice for heartbreak and sleazy warfare: sonically reminiscent of early 2000's with a nostalgic touch that spans across decades to come.
In their new single, “Timeout,” premiering exclusively on The Travelers Club site, the alternative R&B band tells a “story of chasing toxic love that causes one to experience withdrawals upon quitting,” drummer Ricardo Robledo told us. In the track, lead singer Michael Schenk sings: “She brings your heartbeat to a complete stop, yet you continue breathing.” With clean production and catchy vocals to match, it’s definitely a smooth track to play out for the rest of the cuffing season.
