PREMIERE: Mondi taps in with Amon and Malosi for summer banger, "Authentic"
In a 2018 Travelers Club feature, we described TC-associate Mondi by his many titles: a radio host, a social media influencer, an internet personality, a DJ, a thot, and a music producer. As of lately, that last role is something the young talent has been strongly emphasizing, especially now with the release of new single, "Authentic."
Featuring vocals by San Diego rappers Amon and Malosi, Mondi’s "Authentic" simultaneously breezes and bangs like the summer anthem we all needed, complete with the perfect airy vibe and infectious hook. With low-pass filtered synths playing and gliding in the distance, the production contains enough spaciousness to let the hard bass and vocals do the speaking for it, and man, do the verses do the beat justice .
"Okay, I can go rounds but I don't own A K... But if it comes in threes, then I may have to spray,” raps Amon with the kind of swagger that proves the talent’s star quality, “But I'm not with the violence, I'm more with the stylin', more with the vibin' / I'm not profilin', boy my shit Fyre, without the Island."
Of the track, Mondi says, “I made the beat in Spain laying on my stomach with my feet in the air. [EDITOR’S NOTE: This is the picture he sent for reference.] Then I sent it to Amon, who sent his verse and the hook back in like an hour, then got Malosi on it. Overall, the majority of the song took two hours to make.”
“Authentic” is now available for stream on all music platforms. Listen to the heater below.
