North Park Carnitas Snack Shack location to turn into a full bar extension of The Friendly
North Park's once highly acclaimed Carnitas' Snack Shack (briefly re-opened as the ill-fated 'Porchetta Shack') is facing, yet again, another transition –– this time with the help of neighboring burger joint, The Friendly.
Re-opening as 'The Friendly Tavern,' the current shack will be converted into a bar and grill extension of the highly celebrated North Park food scene newcomer.
Featuring a full bar and burger-exclusive menu, the upcoming hole-in-the-wall plans to keep true to The Friendly's straightforward, no-nonsense ethos: only call drinks, draft beer, and dirty burgers –– that's it. The restaurant is currently set to open by early September.
The project, created as a joint venture by Carnitas' Snack Shack chef Hanis Cavin and The Friendly co-owner Brandon Zanavich, comes as a familiar collaboration between the two, as Zanavich previously spent time working in the original Carnitas Snack Shack before opening his own joint.
